How it works

Three steps, no surprises.

STEP 1

Call or send a photo

A photo of the label on your water heater and where it sits tells us the size, fuel type, and venting, so we show up with the right unit.

STEP 2

Get your price

We confirm tank or tankless, size, and any code updates, then give you a price before work starts. We pull the permit.

STEP 3

Install, test, haul away

We install to current code, test everything, and take the old water heater with us.

Common questions

Water Heater Installation: your questions, answered

How long does a water heater last?

A typical tank water heater lasts about 8 to 12 years. A quality tankless unit commonly lasts 20 years or more. Water quality and maintenance make a big difference either way.

Can a leaking water heater be repaired?

If the tank itself is leaking, it needs to be replaced. A leak from a valve or a connection can often be fixed. Shut off the water and power or gas to the unit and call us. We'll tell you which it is.

Should I get a tank or a tankless water heater?

A like-for-like tank replacement is the fastest, lowest-cost way to get hot water back. A tankless unit costs more up front, but the hot water never runs out and it typically lasts much longer.

Do I need a permit to replace a water heater in Michigan?

Yes. Replacing a water heater needs a permit. We pull it and make sure the install meets current code, so the work is on record and done right.

What water heater brands do you install?

For tank water heaters we mostly install Rheem and Bradford White. For tankless, we install Rheem, Navien, and Rinnai. If you have a specific model in mind, we'll talk it through with you.

Do you haul the old water heater away?

Always. We drain, disconnect, and remove your old water heater. It's included, not an extra line item.

Is there a warranty?

Yes. Every install comes with a 1-year parts and labor guarantee from us, on top of the manufacturer's warranty on the unit. Your first year of our Gold Shield Silver Care maintenance plan is included free.

How fast can you install a new water heater?

In most cases we can install a new water heater the next day. If you have no hot water or a leaking tank, call us and we'll get you on the schedule as fast as we can.
