Learn the trade with hands-on mentorship from licensed plumbers.

  • Part-time / Full-time
  • Fruitport, MI
  • Reports to Owner / Journeyman or Master Plumbers

The Apprentice Plumber works under the supervision of experienced plumbers to learn and develop the skills needed to install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems. It is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about the trade and eager to build a career in plumbing. The ideal candidate is reliable, hardworking, and willing to take direction while gaining hands-on experience.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist licensed plumbers in the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing systems for residential and small commercial projects.
  • Learn to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout of plumbing systems.

  • Perform basic tasks such as cutting, threading, gluing, and soldering pipes.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and diagnosing plumbing issues.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including job sites and company vehicles.
  • Follow all safety protocols and adhere to local plumbing codes and regulations.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional demeanor on job sites.
  • Attend training sessions and classes as required to grow in the trade.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Basic understanding of hand tools and power tools.
  • Strong work ethic, punctuality, and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor — lifting heavy objects, working in tight spaces, and standing for long periods.
  • Prior construction or plumbing experience is a plus but not required.

What we offer

  • Hands-on training and mentorship from experienced plumbers.
  • Opportunities for career growth and advancement within the company.
  • Competitive pay with potential raises based on performance and progress.
  • Overtime pay after 40 hours/week.
  • Paid training and support for obtaining plumbing certifications.
  • Company-paid health insurance (after 30 days).
  • Option to join the company mobile phone plan (unlimited talk, text, and data at a lower price than many carriers).
  • 401k with company match up to 3% (after 1 year).
  • Paid vacation (after 1 year).

Master Plumber

Or a journeyman ready to earn their Michigan Master license within 3–6 months.

  • Full-time, year-round
  • $38–$45 / hour
  • West Michigan

This is not just a tools-in-hand position. We are looking for someone who can run a crew, own a job from rough-in to final inspection, and be the point of contact our general contractors trust. You will work alongside motivated apprentices and journeymen, set the standard for quality and professionalism on every job site, and grow into a long-term leadership role as the company expands. We are open to an active Michigan Master Plumber — or a strong journeyman on track to earn their master license within 3–6 months.

What you'll do day-to-day

  • Lead a small crew of journeymen and apprentices on residential and commercial job sites.
  • Manage job progress, material lists, and scheduling in coordination with the owner.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for general contractors and inspectors on your jobs.
  • Perform and oversee all phases of plumbing: rough-in, top-out, trim, and service.
  • Mentor apprentices and build their skills on the job.
  • Ensure every job meets Michigan code, company quality standards, and customer expectations.
  • Communicate clearly and proactively — no surprises for the owner or the GC.

Required qualifications

  • Active Michigan Master Plumber license — or a journeyman able to earn their Michigan Master license within 3–6 months.
  • Experience leading a plumbing crew on commercial or mixed commercial/residential work.
  • Strong project management instincts — you think ahead, not just about today.
  • Professionalism on the job site and with customers / GC contacts.
  • Valid Michigan driver's license and reliable transportation.

Strong-fit candidates will also have

  • Experience mentoring or developing apprentices.
  • Familiarity with commercial ground-up construction and AIA / lien waiver billing processes.
  • A natural ability to keep crew morale high while holding a high standard.
  • Experience reading commercial blueprints and coordinating with other trades.

What we offer

  • $38–$45 per hour, commensurate with experience.
  • Full-time, year-round work — no seasonal layoffs.
  • Steady pipeline of residential new construction and commercial projects across West Michigan.
  • A small company where your voice is heard and your work makes a real difference.
  • A leadership role with room to grow as the company grows.
  • An owner invested in your success and committed to building a great place to work.
